TaylorMade Tour Series Ghost Putters

The next generation of TaylorMade’s Ghost family has arrived with the Tour Ghost putters, which boast a new Pure Roll insert along with a sleek new look. As with their predecessors, the Tour Ghost putters get their name from their unconventional white finish, which offers vivid contrast against the green for easier alignment. Meanwhile, the Pure Roll insert enables TaylorMade to offer the compatible dual benefits of sufficient launch off the grass with quick forward roll that minimizes backspin. The result is a “pure roll” with less skidding and wobble, enabling the ball to stay truer to the line.

TaylorMade Tour Series Ghost Putters

" These putters take the looks of the Ghost line to the next level with their sleek black-on-white color scheme. Compared to the original Ghost putters, the Tour Ghost putters are slightly heavier and a little firmer in the feel department. I think these putters are a definite step forward. "

5 Questions with TaylorMade: Ghost Putters

What initially inspired your R&D team to begin development on an all-white putter>

The goal was simple: create a putter that was easier to align than any other putter. We have over 25,000 putts from the best players and 65% could not align a putt from 14 feet. In fact, the 65% were aligned from 17 inches right to 14 inches left. That was a large disparity. So we hired Indiana University and the school of Optometry to help us create better visuals. The result was to create contrast with white.

White comes in many shades. How hard was it to find the "right" white for a putter-and what made it right?

That part was easy, to match as close as possible to the color of the Penta TP ball. Once again, a better visual. Different shades of white created a distraction. The most important part for the color was that the white needed to be matte white and not gloss white. Again, the matte white creates less distraction.

The Ghost is off to a great start on tour, particularly with Justin Rose using it to win two tournaments. Do you think that helped open more people's minds to the white finish?

Absolutely, the TOUR is an integral part for the success with any product. We now have six victories on Tour. Paula Creamer also won her first major with a Daytona Ghost putter that we are shipping now to all of our accounts.

TaylorMade still makes numerous non-white putters. Do you see the Ghost as simply filling its own niche, or the beginning of a revolution in putter color?

o We believe the Ghost putter creates better alignment and contrast but other putter colors such as black and silver will continue to be sold at retail.

You are now expanding the Ghost line to include the new Daytona blade, and have also seen photos of Paula Creamer's Kia Ma Daytona Ghost. Are other Ghost models on the drawing board?

We are shipping the Ghost Daytona today and there will be additional models next year. The Ghost putter is still very popular so we will add more blades and smaller mallets for the consumers who prefer a traditional shape.

Will a Ghost line be released under the Kia Ma name?

    No.
